Delete your account

You can delete your Popsie account and all linked data at any time. It is free and requires no explanation.

1. In the app (fastest)

1. Open Popsie and sign in.
2. Go to Profile → Settings.
3. Open the Account section.
4. At the bottom, in the red Danger zone box, tap Delete account.
5. Confirm twice: the second confirmation starts the deletion.

2. By email

If you can no longer access the app, write to hello@popsieapp.com from the email address you registered with, with "Account deletion" in the subject and your username in the message.

We verify the request and act within 30 days, as required by Article 12(3) GDPR. We confirm the deletion to the same address.

3. What gets deleted

Everything linked to your account is removed from our systems:

• account and sign-in credentials (email, password);
• profile: username, display name, avatar, date of birth, preferences;
• watchlist, watched titles and seasons, watched episodes, watch order;
• lists you created and your membership of other people's lists;
• followers and people you follow, follow requests, blocked users;
• published recommendations and likes, which also disappear from your followers' feeds;
• conversations and private messages, which are removed from recipients' inboxes too;
• AI chat history;
• push notification tokens;
• taste profile and computed affinity scores.

4. What does not get deleted

• Data that only ever lived on your device (search history, local copy of title entries): it disappears when you uninstall the app or clear its data from your phone's settings.
• Reports concerning your account, kept in minimal form for 12 months after the case is closed so that our handling can be accounted for if challenged (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
• Any residual copies in infrastructure backups, overwritten on the normal rotation cycle within 30 days.
• Emails you have sent us, retained under normal correspondence rules.

5. Uninstalling is not enough

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account: the data stays on the server and you can sign back in. To actually delete it, follow step 1 or step 2.
